Crabmas and the Return of Evil (aka Peacock Paranoia) December 18, 2024
OMG, 20 years of Crabmas!!
This year's story was used to make it clear that Crabmas Island was at the South Pole and not the North Pole!! It was official in my head for several years at this point, but I thought the people should know!! It is not on Antarctica, but an island off the coast on the side closest to Australia and New Zealand!! So while Santa lives right at the North Pole, Crabmas Island is at the Crabmas "South Pole".. It's mostly a nickname that Santa and the Christmas Crab and their crews started using to distinguish between the two places that was fun and easier to say than Santa's at the North Pole and the Christmas Crab is on a small Antarctic island 1500 miles (2414km) from the geographic South Pole!!
Also just in my head until now is where the Christmas Crab is from.. He was born (hatched??) on Christmas Island, but after a time in Australia he mostly grew up in New Zealand and that is where he met Gordon, who was hatched (born??) in Australia!!
It's weird that this Crabmas was less than a year ago at the time of this writing and yet there's so much I already don't remember!! I guess it just goes with how random a lot of the story ideas I have really are, some I write down and they become part of a Crabmas story and probably hundreds more I figure I'll remember and then they are lost forever, never to get the chance to make it to Crabmas Island!! :-D Rereading this years story less than a year after making it I realised I still remembered how I pictured all of the drawings how they were in my head before I made them, then I'd scroll and see the real pictures and wow are they different!! :-D But I hope my skill-less real pics get the ideas across well enough!!
One thing I actually do remember is why peacocks!! :-D Before writing this Crabmas, hanabi/Angie was working on a magnificent peacock hat (wow, Angie's hats have influenced a lot of Crabmas stories :-D) so I wanted to have a peacock in the story!!
Drawing a peacock with a mouse and no skill was a challenge.. My first try at a peacock was so silly I decided to add it to the yard of peacocks, can you spot him?? Also, there's a sneaky peacock in the first picture of the story!! :-D Oh, and who is Jaka the peacock?? Well as you can see in the screenshots that at the top of each post there is the title of the thread, in this case Crabmas and the Return of Evil (aka Peacock Paranoia) but because of a problem with the old forum software, parentheses in titles were causing errors for some reason so I had to replace () with these lines ||.. Anyway, as you can see that makes "aka Peacock" look sort of like "jaka Peacock".. So TTC mentioned it in post #7 and it took me way too long to understand it, but that's typical for me!! :-D
What else, hmm.. Oh, we learn that Octopirate has been locked up, but for what it doesn't say.. We can assume it's for the Crabmas Kidnapping in 2009, but of course at the end of that one he is still free..
Light switches are hard to draw, but look at that postmark, I did good there!! :-D Speaking of drawing, I had forgotten about the skeleton, I think partly inspired by my 12 foot skeleton maybe, but apparently what I ended up drawing was a picture of me on Halloween!! :-D See Here, LOL!! It's name is Stuart because long ago Sid randomly gave me the nickname Stuey!! Also I think Emmy is a hamster, I wanted to make someone soft and gentle to contrast the evil of Octopirate!! And I may have possibly named her after my cat Emma, if only I could remember!! :-D
Just like last year, there is a random item in the last day's picture!! The same day I posted the first day of this years story I had sent a picture to a friend of a present I had gotten for someone, it was a bottle of mustard flavored soda!! :-p So I guess with that in mind, when they saw the first day post, they asked if there was a bottle of mustard soda on top of the Christmas Crab's tree, of course that's the golden spatula, but right then and there I said I need to hide a mustard soda somewhere, so that's why it's there, not very hidden, but there none the less!! :-D
